"Rabbi" Shlomo Mandel Cries Crocodile Tears For Rubashkin - Still Employs Pedophile Rebbe (Nussbaum) At YOB - Shanda!!!

The little man at the helm acting and screeching, grabbing a Kleenex, is a coward and an ignoramus. A small man accorded kovod for his putrid attempt to threaten and silence parents who wanted to go to the police and report a child molester in the 90's, and who still teaches boys today at Yeshiva Of Brooklyn.
The inmates are running the asylum!

Without getting into what sounds like forced "weeping" during the Tehillim bonanza for Rubashkin, what struck me the most is the hypocrisy surrounding the Mosdos, and what they view as essential, and more importantly the perception they emanate loud and clear - child sexual-abuse is an afterthought unworthy of Tehillim gatherings or taking concrete steps to eliminate offenders from having unconditional access to children.

For info on the unseen forces behind and related to the upcoming Fayetteville, Arkansas gay parade which will be led by a 10-year-old boy (!), Google "Obama Supports Public Depravity," "Separation of Raunch and State" and "Government-Approved Illegals." Did Arkansas learn anything from its recent flood-related disaster? Which being has the final say about what goes on on His planet? Try guessing!

I concur with everything written.
Mandel has no shame.

Is he crying for all the off the derech people he created?

Is he shedding tears for the lifelong agony ex-yober's are experiencing due to an assortment of horrors - ranging from sexual molestation to physical abuse to emotional scars that never go away?

This is the man Agudah feels is a LEADER?

And what about Yudi Kolko proctoring tests at YOB during his phase of banishment from YTT after being ousted and exposed as a pedophile?

This is a LEADER?

After acknowledging merit to the accusations leveled against Nussbaum, but offering an unpersuasive "he didn't know" and that he couldn't fathom Nussbaum would use his position to abuse children, but was ready to ax him now that he was aware of the facts, this occurring a couple summers ago, the lying shyster never kept his word, thus, Nussbaum remains accessible to the young and vulnerable.

This is a LEADER?

Certainly not! More like a criminal!

A monster from his Telsh Yeshiva days, he carried it over to YOB.

Shlomo Mandel is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Sadly, he's not the only one.

Jewish Community Still Behind On Confronting Abuse
Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Asher Lipner
Special To The Jewish Week

As someone who has worked with numerous survivors of sexual abuse in the Orthodox community over the past 10 years, I have been privileged to bear witness to the stories of people who, after having their voices taken away from them, become able to speak for the first time, in the course of their healing, about the horrors they have endured.

Many describe the pain of being forced to suffer in silence as even more traumatic than the experience of being sexually violated. They are warned to keep quiet, lest they bring shame to the community and to themselves and “alienate people from their cause.” This puts survivors in an impossible Catch-22. After struggling, often for years, with their personal demons of pain, loneliness, anger, shame and sense of betrayal, when their healing requires them to give testimony to their victimization and to express their feelings about it, they are told in a million different ways, “Shah Shtill!”

But the problem is not going away, although tragically thousands of survivors are “going away” from us, by abandoning Judaism or even worse, being lost to drugs and alcohol, to mental illness and even suicide. Solving the problem necessitates exposing it to the light of day, and for that we need to reach out to survivors and to listen with empathy to their painful stories. If we do not learn from the mistakes of our past, we are doomed to repeat them.

It is with this in mind that I offer the following plea.

Dr. Asher Lipner's article part 2 said...

Ten years ago, Jewish Week editor Gary Rosenblatt bravely blew the whistle on a decades-long cover-up of rabbinic sexual abuse in the case of Baruch Lanner, a top official of the National Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY). This, together with the roughly 40 articles about abuse and its cover-up published by The Jewish Week since that time, has undoubtedly paved the way for others to follow suit.

However, our community still shamefully lags behind even the Catholic Church in addressing our catastrophe, due to the unwillingness of our leaders to apologize and to reach out effectively to survivors of abuse. We are regularly bombarded in the media with rabbinic sex scandals, convictions of Orthodox child predators and lawsuits against yeshivas harboring molesters. A leading Orthodox mental health agency fails to warn the community about abusers it “treats.” Victims of abuse and their families who report to the authorities are ostracized and bullied, much the same way that the victims of Baruch Lanner were, and district attorneys, seeking support from Orthodox communities, seem to ignore this criminal intimidation of witnesses. Mainstream Orthodox media do not report on cases of abuse, educate people about prevention or inform victims where to go for help.

Even as I write, the Queens Vaad Harabbanim continues to cover up for one of its own, who was forced off the Rabbinical Council of America years ago for allegedly molesting children, the Baltimore Vaad Harrabanim covers up for a rabbi in their community’s prestigious yeshiva who is said to have sexually abused students for decades, and the Lakewood (New Jersey) yeshiva’s rabbinic leaders are pressuring the parents of a victim of abuse who reported it to the police to drop the charges.

In 2001, the then-new executive of the Orthodox Union, the parent organization of NCSY, said about sexual abuse in the Orthodox community: “I would like to see the OU take a leadership role in raising awareness about this problem.” But while the RCA, the OU’s rabbinic arm, has made several public pronouncements warning the community of the epidemic and offering practical ways to combat it, the OU has yet to make a public statement, nor has it supported any of the legislative initiatives of the Jewish Board of Advocates for Children (www.jewishadvocates.org).

The OU does take the lead in many important areas, but it continues to refuse to publish the full report of the NCSY Special Commission. This, despite the fact that both the victims and the community have a right to know exactly what caused this tragedy, and that hundreds of thousands of community dollars were spent on the investigation.

So, the thankless fight to bring awareness to the community is left to the grassroots efforts of survivors of abuse like Joel Engelman, Mark Weiss, Joseph Diangelo and David Framowitz, and their supporters like Vicki Polin and The Awareness Center, Survivors for Justice, Mark Appel, Rabbi Nochem Rosenberg, Rabbi Yosef Blau and Rabbi Yitzchak Eisenman, Assemblyman Dov Hikind, The Jewish Survivors Network, JSafe, and JBAC, supported by the RCA. Also spreading awareness have been bloggers like Unorthodoxjew (UOJ), FrumFollies, FailedMessiah and LittleSheep, and courageous editors like Phil Jacobs (Baltimore Jewish Times) and Mayer Fertig (Jewish Star), in addition to Gary Rosenblatt.

Let us pray that all Jewish leaders will unite with us now to stop sexual abuse and act as a “light unto the nations,” so that nobody else will ever have to endure this terrible trauma.

Dr. Asher Lipner is a clinical psychologist, an ordained rabbi and a survivor of clergy sexual abuse.

Identical twins from Cambridge who sexually abused a boy more than 20 years ago have been jailed.

John and Martyn Conway, 50, both Mormons, abused the child in the 1980s, Cambridge Crown Court was told.

John received six years and Martyn three. John was convicted of indecent assault at a trial earlier this year while Martyn admitted abuse charges.
Earlier conviction

John Conway had entered not guilty pleas, arguing he was a victim of mistaken identity.

Jurors heard that the victim, now in his 30s, had complained of being abused over a seven-year period.

In 2008 Martyn was given a seven-year jail term after being convicted of raping and molesting another boy in the 1980s.

He was found guilty of sex assaults following a trial in Cambridge and had denied any offence.

Judge Anthony Bate said the three-year term imposed would be added to the seven-year sentence given to Martyn Conway in 2008.

The truth about the Postville prosecution

Excerpt:

- Was Rubashkin handcuffed and arrested in October 2008 only to generate publicity? The routine procedure is to tell the defendant's lawyer to bring the client in to plead to the charge.

- Why was Rubashkin imprisoned for 76 days before trial on her office's bogus claim he could flee to Israel and would be immune from extradition under Israel's "Law of Return"?

- Were the charges against Rubashkin deliberately multiplied by the office through an unprecedented seven superseding indictments to 163 counts to overwhelm the media, the public and the jury?

- Why was a 1921 law that has never before in U.S. history been used for criminal prosecution invoked when the charges were based on full payments made by Rubashkin 10 days late?

- Did the office prevent sale of the business to any purchaser who might employ any member of the Rubashkin family in a managerial capacity, thereby making a sale of the business virtually impossible?

Priest in charge of child protection resigns after mishandling of sex abuse case.

Fr Bill Bermingham, the child protection delegate of the Cloyne Diocese in County Cork, has resigned, saying his handling of a child abuse case “caused further distress to the complainant.”

Fr Bill Bermingham was appointed to the position by the Catholic Church's National Board for Safeguarding Children (NBSC) in 2008.

The resignation comes after controversy surrounding a report that claimed Fr Bill Bermingham took a statement from a woman alleging abuse and passed it along to the accused priest before he was questioned by the police.

The woman was made aware of the leaking of her statement and lodged a complaint to the NBSC.

Fr Bermingham claimed he reported the allegation immediately to the police and the Health Service Executive in the Irish Republic in accordance with Catholic Church guidelines, saying the guidelines required him to inform the accused person of the identity of the complainant and details of the allegation.

In a statement released on Saturday, Fr Bermingham said it was vital "any person" occupying his role within the Catholic Church should have the "complete confidence of victims of child sexual abuse" and that his "handling of this particular case has, despite my best intentions, served to undermine that confidence."

Ex-teacher to face new sex abuse charge

A former teacher at the Maimonides School in Brookline was charged yesterday with indecent assault and battery on a child during the 1970s, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said in a statement.

The grand jury indictment is the fifth charge for Stanley Z. Levitt, 64, of Philadelphia, a former Brighton resident. The victim in this case, and two others who came forward last fall, were 11-year-old students at the school while Levitt was employed there.

Four charges were brought against Levitt last year. The third person came forward recently after reading media reports about that case. Levitt will be arraigned Wednesday in Suffolk Superior Court.

Now as I look back to those early years and reflect, it dawns on me that the scare tactics were a product of a mental disorder called "frumkeit."

Our "leaders" have not led by example, unless you consider sex-scandals, financial fraud and living a double standard "leadership."

"Rabbi" Shloime Mandel is a Rasha. Yes, evil! His cruelty and the hurt he put on others cannot be overlooked and nor will it be masked by his beard or his "tears."

As an extension of Agudah, he represents the profound hypocrisy we (heads not buried in the sand) have learned to disdain.

Rabbi Yaakov Mandel said...

I just thought I'd put me two cents in, since I was the menahel at YOB at the time when I heard something about a rebbe accused of molesting talmidim in the yeshiva ketana building.

My brother, Shloime, still insists to this day he didn't owe it to the alleged victim to investigate the accusations.

He darshaned that a Talmid Chacham accused of a wrondoing, no less, a sex crime, against a child at that, is to be believed over a 5th grade boy who we can assume probably read one too many books.

My father, Manis, called a meeting and the 3 of us decided the best way to handle the situation was to threaten any cooperating parents from going to the police or repeating the charges to any members of society. We told these people we would throw their kids out of school, turn their name into mud and have them excommunicated from the community.

So now you know why we allowed Nussbaum to stay and teach and why he still teaches today, because what choice did the parents have, of course they were too frightened to go against our intimidation techniques, and they still won't talk about it today. They know we're there watching their every move, and should we find them saying things, like my son was something by this holy Rebbe, a man who is a highly respected talmid chochom, then we are prepared to tame them into oblivion where they won't be able to use their dirty mouths anymore.

Church sex-abuse lawsuit can continue

In declining to stop a lawsuit that accuses the Vatican of conspiring with U.S. church officials to cover up sex abuse, the court took a rare step toward bringing the Holy See into a U.S. courtroom.

The justices, without comment, declined the Vatican's appeal of a lower-court ruling that said it could be sued in a U.S. court on certain grounds. The decision came in a lawsuit filed by a man who said he was sexually abused as a teenager in 1965 by a priest in Portland, Ore. His attorneys said the church moved the priest among different assignments to cover up the abuse.

The Jewish Week said...

Last week’s column by Gary Rosenblatt, reflecting on the Baruch Lanner case a decade after the scandal became public, is but one chapter in the story of calling attention to rabbinic sexual abuse.

Much work has been done by volunteers, particularly by former victims of such abuse, to draw attention to an ongoing situation that, however improved, continues to cast a stain on the community. It is true that abuse is now more widely acknowledged and discussed as a serious problem that demands communal attention, and that standards and procedures have been put in place in various youth groups, etc. But it is also true that in some elements of the Orthodox community the stigma of shame and fear continues to prevent families from going to the authorities when abuse is suspected.

Grass-roots organizations like the Jewish Board of Advocates for Children and Survivors for Justice have been formed and play a leadership role in terms of communal awareness, concern for the well-being of victims and advocacy for state legislation that would extend the statute of limitation for victims of child abuse crimes to seek legal recourse.

In addition, a small number of rabbis (Yosef Blau of Yeshiva University), politicians (State Assemblyman Dov Hikind), Jewish journalists (Phil Jacobs of the Baltimore Jewish Times, Mayer Fertig of the Jewish Star and our special correspondent Hella Winston), victims and bloggers have sought in various ways to shine a light on the shadows of abuse and inform the community of a reality that many would wish away.

Much has been accomplished these last 10 years in terms of awareness in the community; a good deal more remains to be done to assure that predators can no longer victimize young people and get away with their crime, confident that families will choose to remain silent.

'MJ of Jewish music' gets year in torah swindle

By LAURA ITALIANO

A mentally-ill Orthodox cantor who told jurors he was "The Michael Jackson of Jewish music" was sentenced in Manhattan yesterday to at least a year in prison for swindling a Washington Heights woman out of $36,000.

Victim Judy Burstein, 55, had met the singer, Michoel Streicher, 50, at his performances five years ago in Rockland County, Brooklyn and Lakewood, NJ. Streicher posed as a rabbi, then took her money -- promising to use it to purchase a torah, but instead pocketing it, a jury found in convicting him of grand larceny in April.

"She was so impressed by his singing, she fell for anything," Burstein's son, Yehuda said after the sentencing.

"He promised her the torah would be under her control, and would be used by some of the greatest rabbis in Judaism," the son told reporters. "Then, after a few months, he stopped returning phone calls."

After five years of denying wrongdoing, Streicher, the 50-year-old father of 11 children, apologized to the Burstein family in court today. "It was not intended, and it happened," he said. "And I hope they forgive me."

Streicher's lawyer, Eric Franz, begged Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Roger Hayes for mercy, citing Streicher's long-standing mental illness, for which he is finally receiving treatment in Rikers.

Before getting on his new meds, "He gnaws away, like an animal -- at his cuticles, his fingers," Franz said. As for the accusation he posed as a rabbi, "He just doesn't have a congregation," he said. "That doesn't mean he's posing."

Levitt was indicted late last year on four counts of the same offense representing offenses he allegedly committed upon two other boys. The latest victim came forward after viewing media reports of the prior cases, according to Assistant District Attorney Wayne Margolis.

Margolis said that the alleged abuse took place during the 1975-1976 academic year, when the victim was a student at the Maimonides School in Brookline.

Levitt, who lived on Chiswick Road in Brighton, taught at that school from 1974 to 1977. He left Massachusetts at some point thereafter, eventually making his way to Philadelphia.

"The victim recalls that he was invited with several other boys to attend a sleepover and study session at the defendant’s home," Margolis said. "The defendant instructed all the boys to shower before going to bed. When the victim exited the shower, the defendant was standing there with a towel and said he needed to towel the defendant off."

It was at that point that Levitt allegedly assaulted the boy, Margolis said.

Accused Pedophile To Resign From Queens Rabbinical Board

In agreement with Vaad, Rabbi Ephraim Bryks to leave in October; officials decline to state reasons.
Tuesday, June 29, 2010
Adam Dickter
Assistant Managing Editor

A Queens rabbi who has been dogged by allegations of sexual abuse against children, but never charged with a crime, has reached a negotiated agreement to leave the Rabbinical Board of Queens in the fall, The Jewish Week has learned.

Rabbi Ephraim Bryks, who was investigated by police in Winnipeg, Canada, on suspicion of inappropriate contact with children at a yeshiva where he was principal, resigned from the Orthodox Union’s Rabbinical Council of America in 2003 without admitting any wrongdoing.

Sources told The Jewish Week that the Queens board, known as the Vaad Harabonim, had long sought to have Rabbi Bryks removed as allegations against him persisted but was advised by lawyers that doing so was complicated because there has been no formal legal or halachic proceeding against him. Rabbi Bryks has been a member of the Vaad since the early ‘90s.

Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld, co-president of the Vaad, would tell The Jewish Week only that “we reached an agreement with an individual that will take full effect in October.”

The October date, coming at the start of the new Jewish year, appears to coincide with the time when membership renewals are considered.

The board’s other president, Rabbi Richard Weiss, declined to comment and would not confirm or deny that the person involved in the agreement was Rabbi Bryks.

Last June, the same Vaad ordered Queens Pita, a bakery that it certifies kosher, to terminate the ownership interest of a man, Isaac Ebstein, who had pled guilty to abuse charges involving a 10-year-old boy. The bakery’s co-owner reportedly complied in order to maintain the kosher certification.

Ex-Lakewood camp counselor indicted on child sex assault charges

By KATHLEEN HOPKINS
STAFF WRITER

A former camp counselor has been charged in an indictment with molesting a boy whom he met at a summer camp, and another Lakewood man has been charged with leading an effort to pressure the victim's father to drop the charges against the counselor.

An Ocean County grand jury late last week handed up an indictment charging Yosef Kolko, 36, of Gefen Drive in Lakewood with aggravated sexual assault, attempted aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.

The victim was between 11 and 12 years old when the alleged sexual abuse occurred in Lakewood between September 2007 and February 2009, the indictment stated.

Kolko was working as a camp counselor at Yachad, a summer camp at the Yeshiva Bais Hatorah School on Swarthmore Avenue, when he met the victim, said Laura Pierro, an Ocean County prosecutor.

Kolko previously had taught at the Yeshiva Orchos Chaim on Oberlin Avenue in Lakewood, officials have confirmed.

Pierro said she believes Kolko is no longer affiliated with either facility.

A separate indictment, also handed up by an Ocean County grand jury late last week, charges Shaul Luban, 30, of Twin Oaks Drive in Lakewood with witness tampering.

That indictment stated on/or about Aug. 7, Luban engaged in conduct to induce a witness to withhold testimony in an investigation.

Pierro alleged Luban was trying to rally members of the Orthodox community in Lakewood to embark on a telephone campaign to get the father of Kolko's victim to drop the charges. He sent text messages to people urging them to put pressure on the father, Pierro said, but one of the text messages was erroneously sent to a woman outside the Orthodox community, who notified authorities, Pierro said.

Luban is free on $2,500 bail, posted in August. If he is convicted of witness tampering, he could face up to five years in prison.

Kolko is free on $125,000 bail, posted July 20. He faces up to 60 years in prison if he is convicted of all the charges against him.

Convicted child molester: 'I am a monster'

WORCESTER — Former day care worker Juan R. Nazario revealed his well-kept “secret” in a journal seized by police after his arrest last summer.

“I am a monster. Seriously. I molest kids. Actually, girls, most of the time. They range in age from one month to seven years,” he wrote in a Feb. 3, 2000, entry in his journal. Mr. Nazario estimated he had sexually assaulted 30 to 40 children over the years.

The graphic details of some of his crimes were made public today as the 34-year-old Leominster man was sentenced to 40 to 45 years in state prison after pleading guilty in Worcester Superior Court to 10 counts of rape of a child with force, 12 counts of posing a child in a state of nudity, 15 counts of photographing or videotaping an unsuspecting person in the nude, 17 counts of possessing child pornography, and a single count of indecent assault and battery on a child.

The sexual assault charges involved two female victims, including a 9-year-old girl Assistant District Attorney Anthony J. Marotta said was drugged and raped by Mr. Nazario during a sleepover at his home. The sexual assault was videotaped by Mr. Nazario, the prosecutor said.

The other charges were based on evidence seized by state and Leominster police that included a camera, photographs, videotapes, a laptop computer, telephones, magazines and Mr. Nazario's journal, Mr. Marotta told the court.

Also found in Mr. Nazario's home at 29 Pleasant Place, Leominster was a piece of paper listing the names of 79 young girls, each of whom was given a rating of one to four stars, the prosecutor said. In a Feb. 20, 2001, entry in his journal, Mr. Nazario identified 49 children he claimed to have molested, according to Mr. Marotta.

He said police were able to track down about two dozen of those listed, many now in their late teens or older, but none had any memory of having been sexually assaulted by Mr. Nazario, the divorced father of a 13-year-old boy. Some did, however, recall sleeping over Mr. Nazario's house, the assistant district attorney said.

Mr. Marotta told Judge James R. Lemire Mr. Nazario worked at five different day care centers at various times and was also once employed at a children's clothing store and the children's department of a department store.

He said the evidence seized by investigators suggested there were as many as 120 children Mr. Nazario had either molested or claimed to have molested.
The sentence imposed by Judge Lemire was recommended by Mr. Marotta, who called Mr. Nazario's crimes “vile” and “disgusting.”

Mr. Nazario's lawyer, Alexei C. Garick, recommended a sentence of 15 to 20 years. Mr. Garick said his client was the product of a broken home and was sexually abused as a child by two different relatives.

“He's sickened by what he did,” Mr. Garick told the judge.

Before imposing sentence, Judge Lemire said Mr. Nazario “preyed on the weakest and most defenseless victims imaginable” and described his crimes as “egregious.”

At least they're apologizing.
-
AN APOLOGY to sex abuse victims is what the Victorian Catholic Church hopes is another step forward in a gradual healing process.

Whether it provides some solace to abuse victims or is seen as a method of placating concerns among its own parishioners is questionable.

The statement on the weekend from Melbourne's Catholic Archbishop Denis Hart, expressing his outrage at the continued allegations against the church, was a strong message.

It is also one that those who remain sceptical about the church's actions to heal the wounds of abuse say we have heard before.

Unfortunately, the level of cover-up associated with past abuse cases means that revelations involving abuse continue to be brought to the surface sometimes decades after it occurred.

There is little the church can do but to continue to respond in a manner which reassures those involved that it will continue to make righting past wrongs its highest priority.

The issue remains particularly sensitive in the Ballarat region. While it is counterproductive to repeatedly highlight the details of case after case of abuse in our city, there are many people and families which remain broken by the affects of abuse.

For those victims, we suspect there is no amount of apologising which can lead to forgiveness of the perpetrators. Nor do we expect those who stood by and did nothing to stop abuse to be greeted with any sympathy.

But positive actions should be taken as they intended. That is with respect to those who are willing to break the historically insular church environment to challenge the way the church deals with its past.

"I consider it most important that I write to the people, explain to them how outraged I am and try and give the complete facts so that people can understand the Church is really determined and absolutely resolute to work on this matter," Bishop Hart said.

We hope Bishop Hart's message is one which is supported by Bishops across Australia and, indeed, across the world.

For an apology is a good step. A determination to support and provide real closure for abuse victims would be greeted with even greater enthusiasm. For victims, the actions of the church will always speak louder than words.

Agudath Israel weighs in on Rubashkin sentencing

By Ami Eden · June 21, 2010

Here's the statement:

This is a dark day.

It is a dark day for American justice. Judge Reade has ignored not only the expert opinion of six former United States Attorneys General and numerous other high-ranking former Justice Department officials that Mr. Rubashkin’s sentence should be significantly less than that recommended by the U.S. Attorney; she has imposed a sentence even more draconian than what the U.S. Attorney sought. There is something very wrong with this picture.

It is a dark day, as well, for American Jewry. While none of us condones any wrongdoing by Mr. Rubashkin, the extraordinary severity of the sentence imposed upon one of our Jewish brothers sends chills of shock and apprehension down our collective spine. This is a horrifying development.

BERLIN — A 90-year-old former SS sergeant who was No. 4 on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of most-wanted Nazi war crimes suspects has died before he could be brought to trial, German authorities said Tuesday.

Adolf Storms died at his home in the western city of Duisburg on June 28, Dortmund prosecutor Andreas Brendel said. He said he did not know the exact cause of death.

Brendel's office charged Storms in November with 58 counts of murder for his alleged involvement in a massacre of Jewish forced laborers in a forest near the Austrian village of Deutsch Schuetzen.

Storms and other unidentified accomplices were accused of forcing at least 57 of the Jewish laborers to hand over their valuables and kneel by a grave before fatally shooting them from behind.

A day after the March 29, 1945 massacre, Storms was alleged to have shot another Jew who could no longer walk during a forced march in Austria from Deutsch Schuetzen to the village of Hartberg.

Several former members of the Hitler Youth who were helping the SS guard the prisoners on the march provided witness statements, and Brendel said he thought he had strong evidence against Storms.

"I would have liked to have tried the case," he said.

Efraim Zuroff, the top Nazi hunter at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said Storms' death before a trial could begin was a "classic example" of the challenges his office and prosecutors face today in continuing to pursue suspects more than six decades after the end of World War II.

"At least he was under investigation and faced indictment," Zuroff said in a telephone interview from Jerusalem.

Storms worked unnoticed for decades as a train station manager until a University of Vienna student doing undergraduate research uncovered his alleged involvement in the wartime massacre.

The student and his professor, Walter Manoschek, tracked him down and Manoschek then visited Storms several times. The professor conducted about 12 hours of interviews in which Storms repeatedly said that he does not remember the killings.

CONFRONTING ABUSE IN THE ORTHODOX COMMUNITY
(This article first appeared in NEFESH)
By Rabbi Yosef Blau
It is no longer possible to ignore the tragic reality that sexual, physical and emotional
abuse exists within the Orthodox community. Recent revelations about rabbis and
teachers abusing adolescents, often continuing to abuse for decades, dramatically remind
us that our existing mechanisms are failing to deal with the problem. I am not aware of
any statistics which clarify whether the numbers of offenders is substantial, but even a
small number can traumatize hundreds of victims.
The full measure of the horrendous nature of abuse is not always apparent from a
technical halakhic perspective. Two teenagers touching each other inappropriately are
guilty of the same sin as a forty-year old rabbi touching a thirteen- year old female
student. We intuitively recognize that the rabbi has used his position as an authority
figure to manipulate a vulnerable child, though she is an adult according to halakha. A
pedophile who abuses minors even if he gets their approval is halakhicly a rapist but not
if he does the same with an adolescent boy or girl.
It is even more difficult to pinpoint the sin when dealing with emotional abuse and
manipulation. While one can make similar technical arguments in other areas of halakha,
its significance in this context is its use as cover for the many who do not want to deal
with the full implications of confronting rabbinical abuse. Not wanting to see themselves
as lacking sympathy for victims, people can claim to be concerned about preserving
halkhic standards. How rare it is to have two witnesses who saw the abuse.

Child Sexual Abuse affects over 20% of the American population

It is hard to come up with a completely accurate statistic for child sexual abuse, many instances of abuse remain undisclosed, largely due to the victims fear or shame. However, it has been commonly stated that 1 in 4 women will abused by the age of 16, and 1 in 6 men will also be abused by the age of 16, resulting in an average of 20% of our population being affected by this silent epidemic.(3)
What can be done?

The fist step that must be taken is to cease the silence surrounding the silent epidemic of child sexual abuse. Until society speaks up and victims feel comfortable coming forward we will be unable to get a true picture of this problem.

Help us start a conversation about child sexual abuse. By bringing this topic out of the shadows we allow for real conversations that can lead to real progress. Together, as a community, we can come together to protect our children from sexual abuse.

Australian, 90, gets bail on child sex charges

July 9, 2010 - 9:45AM

A 90-year-old Australian arrested on child assault charges in northern Thailand last month has been released on 400,000 baht ($14,200) bail, says his lawyer.

West Australian Karl Joseph Kraus was arrested at his residence in Doi Saket district after neighbours accused him of sexually assaulting four girls aged from seven to 14 years old.

His lawyer told AAP on Thursday the terms of bail required Kraus to present himself to the court every six days.

The prosecution case is expected to begin next month.

Kraus has denied the allegations, insisting he was in Australia at the time of one of the alleged assaults.

Thai police allege Kraus would lure the children into his house with sweets then ask them to perform sexual acts with him.

A Thai maid also alleged Kraus sent homemade pornographic videos to recipients overseas.

Police have been investigating whether the German-born Kraus was part of a wider pedophile ring.

Following his initial detention, he was transferred to the local hospital, but his lawyer told AAP that Kraus, who can only walk with assistance, had recovered.

KANSAS CITY — For centuries child and teenage runaways or throwaways (children who are inconvenient to have around) were either ignored by law enforcement and social service agencies or categorized as delinquent. As a result, sexual exploitation and trafficking became rampant among that population, a population existing in the shadows.

In the past 15 years, a number of studies and research have shed light on those children and young people. A University of Pennsylvania study in 2000, updated in 2002, estimated that more than 325,000 children in the U.S. are at risk for sexual exploitation; UNICEF reports that every two minutes a child is prepared for sexual exploitation around the world; and the National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway and Throwaway Children estimated more than 1 million runaways in 1999, and that number continues to grow. According to the National Runaway Switchboard, one out of every three teens on the street will be lured into prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home.

A group of men and women on both sides of the state line have organized with Steven Wagner, president of Renewal Forum, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit dedicated toward the abolishment of human trafficking and victim restoration, to research and lay the groundwork to make Kansas City a model city in the fight against trafficking and the sex trade and a provider of services to area youth and child victims..

Delaware Catholic Church to Share Cash With Victims (Update1)

June 29 (Bloomberg) -- Delaware’s Roman Catholic parishes must share as much as $120 million with people sexually abused by priests, according to a ruling by the judge overseeing the bankruptcy of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Sontchi yesterday ruled that a pool of $120 million administered by diocese officials should be considered part of the bankruptcy case. Sontchi said the parishes were also entitled to file claims against the diocese because they had added money to the investment account.

“This is a great victory for all the survivors of sexual abuse in the diocese,” said Thomas Neuberger, an attorney for sex-abuse victims who have sued the diocese and some of its parishes.

The diocese filed bankruptcy in October with plans to settle lawsuits by current and former parishioners who say they were sexually molested by priests. Since then, lawyers for the diocese and those for more than 140 abuse victims have fought in court over everything from the cash pool to which sex-abuse lawsuits should be allowed to go to trial.

“We’re very disappointed in this ruling and we’re exploring what our next steps will be,” Bob Krebs, a spokesman for the diocese, said in an interview today. He declined to answer questions...

Hasid Pleads Guilty to Sodomy

A Brooklyn man from Borough Park’s ultra-Orthodox Jewish community was sentenced Wednesday for sexual acts with an underage boy.

Moshe Spitzer was sentenced to two years in prison with 10 years post-release supervision by Kings County Supreme Court Justice Dineen Riviezzo, as part of a plea deal with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

Spitzer, 26, pled guilty in May to 16 counts of sodomy in the second degree, which he was charged with for engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with a person younger than 15.

Spitzer was reportedly 20 years old when he began engaging in oral and/or anal sex with his victim, then 14 years old, in various motels and apartments.

The victim reported the abuse to a Yeshiva principal about four years later and the principal encouraged him to tell his parents, leading to this prosecution.

Defense attorney George Farkas said these were statutory charges that “don’t require coercion or force.” He said he was satisfied with the plea deal sentence.

Psychologist and intern failed to report child sex abuse

* By Kate Sikora
* From: The Daily Telegraph
* July 14, 2010 3:11AM

A LEADING psychologist and his former intern have been banned for three years after failing to report child sexual abuse by one of their patients.

Dr James Donnelly, former head of psychology at Sydney Children's Hospital, has been ordered to stop practising for three years from next month.

The state's medical watchdog upheld a complaint that he and junior fellow psychologist Kerri Dene failed to notify authorities one of their patients was abusing his 10-year-old daughter.

They were working at the University of New England, Armidale, in 2003 when a patient admitted molesting his daughter.

Ms Dene was treating the father but, after consulting with her supervisor Dr Donnelly, they decided not to notify authorities.

The NSW Psychologists Tribunal heard Ms Dene believed the child was not at risk as the father had voluntarily admitted the abuse and had stopped.

Dr Donnelly and Ms Dene agreed that it would be more beneficial to keep the father under their care and try to help the girl, rather than report them to DOCS, the tribunal heard.

It was not until 2005 that Ms Dene finally contacted authorities, who then investigated.

The father later admitted to authorities that he had a history of sexual abuse dating back 43 years. He also admitted assaulting his daughter since she was about four years old, the Tribunal heard.

"Having been told Mr A [the father] was distressed he had committed a 'boundary violation' by giving a massage to [his daughter] at night, wherein his hand moved or brushed over her pubic area, it was incumbent upon Dr Donnelly to undertake further investigations if he was to appropriately consider the matter," the tribunal said.

Family 'stunned' by fatal plane crash
Grandfather, three granddaughters die after plane splits in half

With his grandchildren visiting from Israel, Skokie resident Moshe Menora was eager to share his passion for flying, taking four of them on a trip to Mackinac Island.

But something went wrong shortly after he took off to return from Michigan, and the plane crashed on the edge of an interstate highway, killing Menora, 73, and three granddaughters, authorities said Wednesday.

"We are stunned by it," said Menora's sister-in-law, Chana Kovalsky, 71, of Chicago. "The loss of the young lives of children especially is never anything anyone can accept."

The lone survivor of Tuesday's crash, Yossie Menora, 13, was thrown from the plane, a Beech Baron 58, and suffered burns on 60 percent of his body, Kovalsky said. He was airlifted to a hospital in Michigan.

The boy's father, Sholom Menora — who lost two daughters in the crash — told relatives from the Michigan hospital that the plane had split in half. The boy was in the rear of the plane at takeoff, family members said.

Sara Klein, 17, Rebecca Menora, 16, and Rachel Menora, 14, died. Along the way home, the funeral procession stopped for prayers Wednesday at Camp Agudah Midwest, an overnight camp for Orthodox Jewish children, Kovalsky said.

"They stopped by there and made a little memorial service," she said. A funeral was scheduled Wednesday night at the Congregation Or Torah in Skokie. On Thursday, the bodies will be flown to Israel for burial, she said.

Menora was a successful businessman who enjoyed spending time with his 17 grandchildren.

"He is just a wonderful person, a wonderful businessman, very honest, a tremendous amount of integrity," said Sharon Leahy, executive director of operations for Menora's real estate company, Tri-United Management, based in Skokie.

Menora was born in Haifa, Israel, and his father was a rabbi there, said Leahy, who met him 36 years ago. He joined the Israeli army and "served alongside (Israeli military leader) Moshe Dayan in the Sinai in 1956," she said.

He moved to New York in 1958 and met his wife, Sema, a rabbi's daughter. Menora ran a kosher meat market before getting into real estate. They moved to the Chicago area shortly thereafter.

The plane left Chicago Executive Airport Tuesday at 11:11 a.m. and arrived at Mackinac at 1:56 p.m. Eastern time, according to flight records. The plane seats four passengers in addition to the pilots, according to the manufacturer.

Menora had just refueled and was taking off from Mackinac County Airport in St. Ignace around 5 p.m. Tuesday and had not reached 1,000 feet when the plane encountered difficulties, authorities said.

The plane crossed over northbound Interstate Highway 75 and struck the median barrier, flipping over and coming to rest on the shoulder of southbound I-75, according to the Mackinac County sheriff's office.

National Transportation Safety Board investigator Aaron Sauer said that it was too early to speculate on the cause. But he acknowledged that one factor to be investigated was whether the plane was too heavy for takeoff after taking on 60 gallons of fuel.

"It is God's way and we will just have to accept it," Kovalsky said.

Do Frum Couples Have Happier Marriages?

As part of the Orthodox Union’s ongoing commitment to strengthen the Jewish family, the OU recently conducted an online international survey on marital satisfaction in the Orthodox community. The anonymous Aleinu Marital Satisfaction Survey, which took place from January to March 2009, targeted the Orthodox community and focused upon the many facets of marital satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The survey was coordinated in conjunction with Aleinu Family Resource Center, a program of the Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles and the Rabbinical Council of California. Raw data were collected by OTX, a California institute of the behavioral sciences. The study expanded upon a similar project conducted in March 2008 by Deborah Fox, director of Aleinu Family Resource Center at Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles.

The OU survey, organized by Frank Buchweitz, OU national director, community services and special projects, broadened the original inquiry, with questions regarding the impact of such issues as at-risk children, infertility and birth control. The OU, which has sponsored numerous marriage retreats on both the East and West Coasts, will use the results to create new programming aimed at strengthening marriages and families within the frum community.

Dr. Eliezer Schnall, assistant professor of psychology at Yeshiva College, and Dr. David Pelcovitz, Straus professor of psychology and education at Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, both of whom were responsible for analyzing the data, explain the findings and their implications in the pages ahead.

Analysis & Interpretation:What the Data Reveal
(Excerpted from remarks made by Dr. Eliezer Schnall at a presentation delivered at the Orthodox Union in November 2009.)

The survey attracted 3,760 respondents from around the world, a large number relative to similar studies of marriage and family. The vast majority of the respondents— 83 percent—were from North America, mostly from the United States. Some 11 percent were from Israel. Of the total respondents, 59 percent were women and 41 percent were men.

When asked to rate their marriages overall as “Excellent,” “Very Good,” “Good,” “Fair” or “Poor,” 72 percent of men and 74 percent of women rated their marriages as “Very Good” or better. In contrast, only a small minority— about 13 percent—responded that their marriages were “Fair” or “Poor.” Indeed, many studies—for example, data from the National Survey of Families and Households—indicate that frequent participants in religious services or activities experience greater marital contentment, and may even have lower risk of divorce, compared with others. In fact, almost 80 percent (of both men and women) in our sample said that their spouses meet their expectations. Furthermore, in a similar question, respondents were asked whether they would marry the same person if they could “turn back the clock,” knowing all that they do now. Most wives and husbands will be happy to hear that so many (74 percent) of their spouses would marry them all over again if they could...

German bishop resigns over handling of abuse case
Maria Jepsen at a press conference on 16 July 2010 Maria Jepsen was elected bishop in 1992

The bishop of Hamburg - the world's first female Lutheran bishop - has resigned amid criticism of her handling of a sex abuse case.

Maria Jepsen stepped down saying her credibility had been contested.

She denies having known before May this year about a priest in the town of Ahrensburg who reportedly sexually abused boys and girls in the 1980s.

Several cases in Germany form part of sex abuse scandals that have hit the Roman Catholic Church recently.

Maria Jepsen was elected bishop in 1992, becoming the first woman worldwide to hold the post.

"My credibility has been put in question," she said.

"Consequently, I feel that I am no longer able to spread the good word, as I vowed to do at my ordination.

"I expect that the... cases in Ahrensburg and elsewhere will be swiftly investigated and that the truth will come to light."

Maria Jepsen is the third bishop to resign in Germany in recent months.

Roman Catholic Bishop Walter Mixa resigned in April after claims he hit children.

And the former head of the Protestant Church in Germany, Margot Kaesmann, resigned after she was caught by police drunk driving.
Speedy solution

In recent months, allegations of abuse levelled against Catholic priests have surfaced in many countries.

There have also been accusations that Church authorities in Europe and North and South America failed to deal with cases openly or properly.

Pope Benedict XVI himself has been accused of being part of a culture of secrecy, and of not taking strong enough steps against abusers when he had that responsibility as a cardinal in Rome.

However, his supporters say he has been the most pro-active pope yet in confronting abuse.

The Pope pledged in April to "bring to justice" Church officials responsible for abuse.

On Thursday, the Vatican issued new instructions to speed up the handling of the "most urgent" cases of sex abuse by priests, after a series of abuse scandals.

Priests who sexually abuse a mentally ill adult will now be treated in the same way as those who abuse minors.

Sexual Abuse of children is grossly increasing in reportage and more children are facing the inevitable consequences. Child sexual abuse is an especially complicated form of abuse because of its layers of guilt and shame. It’s important to recognize as this column has discussed many a time, that sexual abuse doesn’t always involve body contact.

Exposing a child to sexual situations or material is sexually abusive, whether or not touching is involved.

While news stories of sexual predators are scary, what is even more frightening is that sexual abuse usually occurs at the hands of someone the child knows and should be able to trust—most often close relatives and people in a position of authority over the child and whom the child and family trust.

And contrary to what many believe, it’s not just girls who are at risk. Boys and girls both suffer from sexual abuse. In fact, sexual abuse of boys may be underreported due to shame and stigma.

Aside from the physical damage that sexual abuse can cause, the emotional component is powerful and far-reaching for children.

Sexually abused children are tormented by shame and guilt. They may feel that they are responsible for the abuse or somehow brought it upon themselves. This can lead to self-loathing and sexual problems as they grow older—often either excessive promiscuity or an inability to have intimate relations.

The history of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) has been linked to increased risk for long-term consequences on the lives of survivors (e.g., Adams-Tucker, 1982; Briere & Runtz, 1988; Brooks, 1983; Browne & Finkelhor, 1986; Peters, 1988; Spaccarelli, 1994; Trickett & Putnam, 1993). For example, CSA survivors are more likely to experience PTSD related symptoms such as moments of increased arousal and extreme affective reactivity and, alternatively, a general predisposition toward numbing of responsiveness including feelings and affects (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 1994).

The shame of sexual abuse makes it very difficult for children to come forward. They may worry that others won’t believe them, will be angry with them, or that it will split their family apart.

Because of these difficulties, false accusations of sexual abuse are not common, so if a child confides in you, PLEASE kindly take him or her seriously. Don’t turn a blind eye!

Time for the U.S. to Act Against Clerical Sex Abuse

To the Editor:

Re “The Pope’s Duty” (editorial, July 9):

While the Vatican has initiated several actions to increase the efficiency of its internal procedures dealing with child sex abuse by its clergy, this should not lead anyone to believe that the Holy See will now be a force in assisting victims and punishing perpetrators and abettors to these heinous crimes.

As you correctly point out, guidelines are not mandates, and without such directives from the pope, abusers and those who have assisted them will continue to thrive while victims suffer in silence and ignominy.

In fact, the Vatican’s response should not be our primary focus if we intend to protect children. As the leader in the free world for human rights enforcement, the United States is uniquely positioned to enact authoritative measures, including having the State Department add the Holy See to its list of countries to be monitored for human rights abuses.

The Clinton administration enacted the International Religious Freedom Act, which entailed a yearly religious liberty audit of foreign countries. Similarly, there should be a yearly child protection audit of foreign countries that have employees in the United States.

Another promising path that the president and Congress should consider is amending the Mann Act, which outlaws the movement of people, including children, for purposes of illegal sex. A section should be added to include prohibiting the movement of employees known or suspected to have sexually abused children.

Since the huge cover-up of the church’s secret handling of child sexual abuse by its priests first broke in 2002, thousands of victims and millions who are rightfully and sufficiently outraged have demanded accountability. But the American government has been slow to react. This is the year that our federal government needs to stand up for children.

Police say 33-year-old Angus Pascall has been charged with rape, sexual abuse, criminal sex act, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

Carol D'Auria reports

The first attack happened on the afternoon of June 11, 2001, when a 22-year-old woman was raped while walking into her house, police say.

The next incident happened eight years later.

A 19-year-old woman was in the elevator of an apartment building on May 21, 2009 around 10 p.m. when the suspect sodomized the alleged victim at knifepoint before fleeing.

The suspect apparently struck again six months later. Armed with a knife and a gun, the suspect forced a 14-year-old girl behind an apartment building and tried to sexually assault her, police say. The victim fought back and the suspect fled.

Pascall is also accused of sodomizing an 11-year-old girl on the morning of July 11 in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Police say the girl was walking her dog around 8 a.m. when she was forced into an elevator in the Kingsborough Houses at gunpoint.

Police say Pascall may have used an elevator key provided to EMTs.

The latest incident occurred Monday. A 20-year-old woman was allegedly forced into a car at gunpoint and raped. Police say the suspect forced the victim out of the car before fleeing the scene.

Pascall has been an EMT since 2005. Police say he has been arrested at least twice before, including for a domestic violence incident.

Sources tell 1010 WINS, Pascall's EMT record indicates his supervisor considered him a person who needed close supervision for various work-related problems -- including anger management.

GLOBE EDITORIAL
In abuse cases, church rules aren’t enough — call police

July 21, 2010

EVEN WHEN a religious institution has its own procedures for punishing wayward clergy, the sexual abuse of children is a serious crime that warrants prosecution by civil authorities. But when the Vatican revised its disciplinary system for sex-abuser priests, it missed the opportunity to take an unambiguous stand against pedophiles and those who protect them. The new rules do not order church officials to report allegations of sex abuse to the police, nor do they establish even internal penalties for bishops who cover up cases of abuse. Until the church adopts a zero-tolerance policy, justice cannot be served, and the worldwide uproar over the church’s handling of such cases will continue.

At least two of the changes announced last week were beneficial. First, the church will be quicker to conduct internal trials of priests accused of abusing children. Second, a new rule doubles the statute of limitations for abuse cases to 20 years from the victim’s 18th birthday. Both of these reforms will streamline the church’s process for identifying and prosecuting cases of sexual abuse.

Still, the new rules fail to bring the worldwide church’s practices in line with those recently adopted by US bishops; in the United States, priests who are found guilty of even one case of pedophilia are to be forced out, and bishops who learn of sexual abuse allegations against priests must notify authorities. A Vatican spokesman said last week that the new rules are meant to deal only with the church’s internal procedures. This narrow approach comes off as grudging, and it presumes a level of confidence in the hierarchy’s ability to handle abuse cases. Yet in a number of countries, as in Massachusetts, the church’s credibility has suffered amid reports that officials ignored instances of abuse, transferred known pedophile priests from parish to parish, and kept information from parishioners and law enforcement.

Abuses by clergy aren’t unique to the Catholic Church. The ongoing sexual abuse case against Stanley Z. Levitt, a rabbi and former teacher at the Maimonides School in Brookline who is now accused of molesting a handful of boys in the 1970s, shows that different types of religious hierarchies often respond to troubling accusations in the same hushed manor. Even after questions were raised about Levitt’s fitness to teach young boys, he was allowed to move to Philadelphia and, worse yet, to be in contact with children there. It took over three decades for charges to finally be brought against him.

The possibility that some clergy members will use their spiritual roles to gain access to minors makes it all the more vital that the Catholic Church and other religious institutions cooperate with civil authorities. The clergy do not operate outside of the criminal law. Likewise, the institutions they work for should enact policies that operate in concert with the legal system, and within the bounds of common sense and decency.

What child sexual abuse means to abusers and child survivors (3)

By Olufemi – Kayode

Our series from the book – by Jane Gilgun and Alankaar Sharma titled ‘Child Sexual Abuse: Child survivors, Mothers and Perpetrator’s continues this week. Who is responsible for the act of sexual molestation of a child?
Perpetrators have (the) sole responsibility

Children a do not realizs that the only persons responsible for the abuse are perpetrators. A lot of non-offending adults do not realise this either, and children may be blamed and stigmatised for being sexually abused. There are many aspects of child sexual abuse that many parents and other non-offending adults do not understand.
Nothing about children causes sexual abuse. All children are vulnerable to being sexually abused.

Those sexually abused have the misfortune to be in the presence of perpetrators with no protection. Children with disabilities are especially vulnerable.

In the long run, survivors benefit when others hold perpetrators responsible and accountable for their behaviours.
Sexual abuse harms children

Being forced into sexual activities harms children no matter how old or young perpetrators are. Through being sexually abused, children learn from their own experience that what they want does not count and that they themselves do not count. Thus, their autonomy and sense of self-worth are harmed. Their sexuality and sexual identities may be affected as well.

Next week, we shall visit the case of a father who sexually abuses his 12- year-old daughter and gets her pregnant.
What are the risks involved for the child, the unborn child, society and the future? It is vital and with all sense of urgency that we need to address this silent epidemic. Send in your comments and contributions today.

Sexual assault increases risk for psychosis and schizophrenia

Traumatic sexual incidents may precipitate mental health problems years after the assault. New research from the University of Ulster’s Psychological Research Institute suggests that sexual trauma can play a role in the development of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, even up to 10 years after the original event.

In addition to the risk of development of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, victims of sexual trauma may be even further disposed to other psychological problems, as victims often have a propensity to move away from the area the iancident took place. This often removes them from family and other social support networks.

These findings may be helpful in providing insights for evaluating patients with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders for a history of sexual trauma, and in developing targeted interventions and therapies.

Mandel is a fake Jew. He'd rather Nussbaum molest and abuse more children then to do the right and fire him. While he's at it let him fire himself too. He's a monster and a phony!

Accused Va. teacher linked to decades of sex abuse
July 25, 2010 - 1:39pm

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) - A Manassas high school teacher accused of sexually abusing a former student reportedly switched jobs for decades despite suspicions by supervisors and others.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that Kevin Ricks worked as a teacher, tutor, foreign exchange host and camp counselor despite suspicions dating to at least 1978, with alleged victims spanning the globe. The newspaper reports Ricks worked in public and private schools, eluding policies to prevent abuse.

Ricks is facing charges involving a former Osbourn High School student.

The newspaper says investigators have found photographs and other evidence of decades-old abuse and interviewed former students who said they were abused. Rick issued a statement Friday saying he is seeking forgiveness.

I agree with Rav Peachy. Even if our sons were molested by Nussbaum we are still responsible to forgive and forget it so to avoid a possible chiliul hashem if this gets leaked out to the lowly blogging atmosphere.

It is unfortunate that it has come to this. It is a big darn shame it has come to this. It is very hurtful that it has come to this. But yet, IT HAS COME TO THIS. It has come at the price of a GREAT CHILUL HASHEM. It has come to Hashem having to allow his holy name to be DESECRATED so that his CHILDREN remain SAFE. Shame on all those responsible for enabling and permitting Hashem's name to be desecrated! When you save children you save the future. You save the future you save generations. You save generations you save lives. You save lives you have saved the world!!!!!!!
